BUSYBODY

A busybody is someone who is too interested in what other people are doing. But, how does the bible describe a busybody?

In II Thes. 3:11

For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.

This scripture is referring to those who just come to the house of God for one purpose- to tap into other people’s businesses. The bible calls them a beautiful name as we see in Pr 20:3

It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.

From this scripture, who is a meddler? Someone who always gets involved in what does not concern them is a meddler.

What makes a busybody

From the two scriptures above, we can deduce what makes a busybody:

A busybody is a meddler;
We already know who a meddler is- one who always gets involved in something that doesn’t concern them.

A busybody is someone who always gets involved in strife;

We know that strife simply means angry or violent disagreement between two people or groups of people.

A busybody is someone who walks disorderly;

Everyone knows what it means to walk disorderly- cat walkers should beware because the bible actually calls you a beautiful name.

A busybody is someone who is lazy;

If you’re the lazy type, the bible says you are a busybody- we all know what it means to be lazy. We can be lazy in every aspect of life.

A busybody is someone who has no honour;

Someone who has no honour before men is as good as a non-living thing- a busybody has no honour.

A busybody is a fool!

Ultimately, the bible states it clearly that a busybody is a fool.

Warnings to Busybodies

In II Thes. 3:12
Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

In IPt. 4:15
But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.

In I Tim. 5:13-15
And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.

I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.

For some are already turned aside after Satan.

As a busybody, the bible says that you have already taken after Satan.

We can read the following scriptures on our own:

I Pt. 2:20
Eph. 4:28
Acts 20:35
I Cor. 9:12

I pray that the Lord will redeem us all in the mighty name of Jesus Christ! Amen.
