Jonathan orders removal of #BringBackGoodluck 2015 banners

President Goodluck Jonathan has directed that the #BringBackJonathan 2015 signs and banners around Abuja be brought down immediately.

He gave the directive in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, noting that he and many Nigerians find the signs and banner offensive and repugnant.

According to him, the signs, which were highly insensitive parody of the #BringBackOurGirls hash tag, were put up without his knowledge or approval.

Commending the enthusiastic show of support for his administration by a broad range of stakeholders, he also condemned the #BringBackJonathan 2015 signs, which he said appeared to make light of the very serious national and global concern for the abducted Chibok girls.

He assured all Nigerians and the international community that his administration remains fully engaged with efforts to rescue the abducted girls.

He said he will not knowingly promote any actions that will fly in the face of the seriousness of their plight and the anguish of their families.
